Let's Talk LipSense

A few weeks ago I received a package in the mail and may have been a little bit too excited.

See, I've heard about LipSense, but I didn't have it in my budget to give it a try. So, when I received some information on Red Gate Beauty offering up some samples to bloggers interested in trying and reviewing the products? I signed up.

I figured there was no way I would be considered.

BUT!

I was. Am. Here I am.

So, my first attempt at using LipSense was broadcast out on my Instagram stories. Now, unfortunately those don't stay around, so I had to save my videos and try to pull them together. Hang tight for that one - I'll share it once I'm totally done working on it.

Here's my first go with LipSense.

If I Could Buy All The Dresses ... I'd Buy These.

This is the summer of dresses for me. I'm not sure if it's because I'm doing so much traveling, or because I've lost a substantial amount of weight, or because I'm just finding myself in these certain styles - but no matter what the reason these dresses are giving me life.

And so - I'm eyeing dresses everywhere. From online to in-store, from on friends to people on the street, and I kind of want them ALL.

That said, if I could buy any plus-sized dress that exists out there in the world of fashion, I am fairly certain that I would buy myself one of each of these I share with you below.

* I am a member of the Everywhere Society and they provided me with this product for review. All thoughts and expressed opinions are my own. *

causes, support, charity, contribute, Macy's, Haiti

I met the fine people of the Everywhere Society this fall at Type-A Parent Conference. Their booth in the conference expo included a number of products from the Heart of Haiti line at Macy's that they support. As soon as I saw that they were planning an upcoming campaign supporting this effort I volunteered myself as a participant.

I've got an eye on what you need to cozy up for the winter!

I recently had the opportunity as a Wayfair Homemaker to go shopping over at Wayfair.com and I couldn't wait to dive into their pillows and throws.

It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to buy because I am a bit of a blanket addict, but eventually I figured it all out and today the last of my shipment arrived.

I'm going to start with that item first because I HAD to get it. Yes. I did. I had to.

Some great holiday gift ideas for your kids!

* Disclaimer: I was given a compensated opportunity to check out Stone's Education Superstore in Raleigh recently. All observations and opinions expressed here come from me or my 7-year-old daughter. Compensation ultimately led to some shopping on-site. That's how cool this store is. *

Stone's Education Superstore has a new location these days, and when you pull up into the shopping center where it is located you're in for a shock - honestly - at least you were if you were me.

This store is HUGE.

There is no other word to describe the first impression. It's gigantic.

WaterWipes: An all natural baby wipe.

* This is a sponsored post. All expressed opinions and noted experience is strictly my own. *

Back in September I was gearing up for a huge fundraising event for a local charity I am involved with. If you have been reading me for a while you'll remember that I'm talking about the StrollerThon for Postpartum Education and Support.

The morning of the event it was pouring. Raining beyond words.

As I grabbed my necessities for the day I realized that I was armed with something better than just what *I* needed. I had a stash of something that some of the moms might be needing!

I had samples of WaterWipes at my disposal.

The Lifesaver II by Mio ~ product review

I have had the opportunity to use the Lifesaver II by Mio over the last few months and have to tell you, I don't know what I have been doing living without it for so long.

The Lifesaver II is a portable power pack for your cell phone or tablet. I've primarily been using it for my phone and it really has been an amazing little accessory.

I got a new phone around the holidays and I haven't been dealing with as many battery issues as I had in the past, but that doesn't mean I don't overuse my phone sometimes and totally need a way of getting some juice.

Ideally the best way for a blogger like me to test one of these portable chargers would be to attend a conference. And I was able to do that recently, twice.

The first huge test was when I attended a social work conference earlier this month and was there for the entire day. I relied on my Lifesaver to keep me charged for any online reading I needed to do, but what I didn't expect was that I'd end up helping my neighbor at the conference, as well. The gentleman sitting next to me was having issues with his phone and I totally plugged him in and charged him up so he could turn his phone on and see what was happening. I think I just sold him a Lifesaver II! He even wrote it down. Admittedly, he was an older gentleman, and I don't think he even knew that portable phone chargers existed.

I also had a full weekend worth of opportunity when I attended the Shot@Life Champions Summit in DC a few weeks ago. It was the first time I was away from home for several days straight and using my smartphone pretty excessively. As anyone can tell you, when you attend a conference as a blogger, you're likely to need your phone or your tablet to keep active on social media during the trainings and sessions. And this event was no different. I also found myself away from the hotel and out on the hill (yes, the hill in DC! More to come on this soon!) and I needed to know that my phone would be working no matter what.

This charger did not disappoint. I'm thrilled to have it and thrilled at how quickly it charges my phone. I pretty much keep it in my bag all the time now with the small cable attached. The only disappointment I had was that there was no attachment to charge my iPad. Although I've read that it does work with them, so maybe mine was missing? Either way - no matter - it's still a great charger.

I know today's society it's awful how reliant we are on our phones, but sometimes, when it comes to blogging, our jobs, our roles as parents or employees, we're counting on them - I know you feel me. And so the Lifesaver II by Mio has absolutely helped me to be more available and helped me avoid the anxiety of that dreaded flashing low battery warning!

I'd definitely recommend this product for those in the market for a portable charger. It's really sleek and can fit into a pocket in my bag WITH my cell phone. It's not clumsy, clunky or any other type of negative adjective you can think of.

So check it out! And if you do let me know what you think. I'm curious to hear your opinions.

* I was provided with a Lifesaver II charger by Mio to review. I was not compensated for this review in any way. All expressed opinions are strictly my own. *

Oral-B is making brushing fun for our kids!

This paid/sponsored post is brought to you by the new free Oral-B Disney Timer App as part of a Type-A Parent Community Sponsored Post. All expressed opinions on both, the products received and the app are completely my own (and those of my daughter).

Getting our children to brush their teeth isn't always easy.

There's whining. Yelling. Crying. Pouting. Bargaining.

And that's just me.

I've gone as far as cheerleading for my kiddo.

Yeah, I mean it.

Don't believe me? Take a look.

See? Toldja. And she's SEVEN.

Anyway, we were lucky enough to have been chosen to participate in this great campaign Oral-B has going on right now promoting their new Disney Timer App. Because of this we received a really cute toothbrush with Snow White on it, and some Princess toothpaste. Because every little girl needs Princess toothpaste at least once in their life!

Using a kid-friendly toothpaste might have been a bust in our house because at age 7 my daughter is all about being old enough to do whatever mommy and daddy do so I never know how she's going to react to new things. But I needn't have worried at all. She loves it. The toothpaste and the brush. The app. The whole thing.

The app is really working in our house. She really loves that she can change her character whenever she wants. Whether it's a princess (which it is. It always is.) or Mike Wazowski, she's been excited to play around with that feature. Once we get our brushes ready to go she marches through the app with determination.

There's an option to scan your Oral-B Disney products before you begin, and when we scan the image on the toothpaste there's a swirl of stars that appears before introducing a quick clip of one of the princesses dancing around on the screen of our tablet

For my daughter the rewards have been a lot of fun. Each time she completes a "brush" she gets a virtual sticker added to her collection. It's been an interesting variety of princess images so far, and she even earned a Mickey sticker yesterday - which was very exciting! I tried to take a picture of one of them to share but the app moves pretty quickly so I missed it. Oops.

All in all using this new app has been a great experience. It's pretty motivating for her and she now brushes her teeth for either one or two minutes - which is a lot longer than 2-3 swipes through her mouth, a few chews on the bristles and we're done!

This app is available on iTunes and in the GooglePlay store and if you've got little ones who get bored while brushing their teeth or just plain "don't wanna!!!" brush them at all? I suggest you check it out today. They're going to really love it. But don't be surprised if they make you work alongside them, too. Because in our house even Mommy gets in on the action ... I haven't earned as many stickers as she has, though. She seems to take over the app when we brush.

We were both matching Rapunzels for a little while. And then she decided to switch it up. So I get to be Ariel. For now. But I think that's only because there isn't an option to choose Elsa or Anna. YET.

So, from our house to yours ... Happy brushing!

  Disney Timer App by Oral-B

This paid post is brought to you by the new free Oral-B Disney Timer App as part of a Type-A Parent Community Sponsored Post. I'm talking 'bout bums with Cottonelle ~ #spon

* This is a sponsored post that was written by me on behalf of Cottonelle.

Tell me the truth, do you use your phone in the bathroom?

Come on, you can tell me.

I'll confess. I do it.

Only at home (I just can't be one of those people talking in the stall!) and only with people like my mom or my best friend, but I've definitely done it before.

And how many times have you found yourself talking through the bathroom door while on the toilet? Parents out there - I know you know what I'm saying. I recently explained to my daughter how when she was an infant I had to HOLD her in my arms while I went "potty"! So I know you. I AM you.

Now ... #LetsTalkBums

You won't discuss bathroom habits with people, but you totally find yourself talking TO people while going to the bathroom. And don't say you don't - because there's a study that shows more than 60% of us DO. So, if it's not you, who is it?

But I get it. Nobody really likes to talk about the bathroom. Not unless it's related to our kids.

Think about it. We start when they're really young. As a mom it's a pretty easy topic to approach with other women. Sometimes we fall into the topic so quickly, we don't even realize we're doing it. But then when it comes to us, we might discuss digestive issues with our nearest and dearest, but bum-talk? Probably not happening. Honestly, many of us would rather suffer in silence than discuss anything with our doctors, let alone our friends. But why? What's so taboo about this topic that makes us shy away from it as we do?

Cottonelle would like to help us change the way we talk about our bums. Opening up and discussing this sort of thing will help us help each other.

I'm not sure what embarrasses us most about talking about our cleansing habits when it comes to the bathroom. I understand it's a private thing. I won't get into the debate of whether you use the bathroom in front of your significant other or anything - that's your choice. But I'd like to talk about keeping clean for a bit.

And speaking of ... I'm coming clean today. I'll admit that while I started off buying Cottonelle for my daughter I found myself using them. Repeatedly. And they work. Really.

You'll obviously need to try them for yourself to believe me, but I've found that it's a cleaner and fresher feeling than just using toilet paper alone. Cottonelle's Clean Routine is something you might find yourself implementing regularly - to your own surprise!

And Cottonelle Flushable Cleansing Cloths now come in a discreet and sleek newly designed dispenser. It's upright, so it can sit on your vanity and be completely out of the way. Mine fits right in the corner, easily accessible with relation to the location of my toilet.

I really love the dispenser. It makes using these so much easier, and is simpler when it comes to opening and, for lack of another word, dispensing the product. The old holder was flat and a bit bulky. It didn't stay put on the counter. This one is much easier to use, for sure.

See them both in my bathroom below!

Please excuse the poor lighting in my bathroom.
Not sure exactly what happened there.

Using cleansing cloths like these shouldn't seem that odd. It might at first, because you're not used to it, but once you start using them they'll start to feel like a part of your everyday routine. They even have an easy to carry On-The-Go soft pack (10 ct) that you can slip into your purse, backpack, or laptop bag. The perfect size for traveling, too.

Now, are you ready to check them out? And ready to talk bums? Head on over to Cottonelle's Facebook page to join the discussion today!

* Cottonelle wants to get you talking about your bum and on a better way to clean "down there" by using the Cottonelle Clean Routine. By combining the use of Cottonelle Toilet Paper and Cottonelle Flushable Cleaning Cloths, the Cottonelle Clean Routine is a revolutionary way to keep your bum clean.

Are you ready? Don't be shy! Visit http://facebook.com/cottonelle to learn more about the Cottonelle Clean Routine and join the clean routine conversation.

Check out Invisalign

* This is a sponsored post. I am being compensated via Invisalign for writing and sharing this product related information with you. All expressed memories and opinions are strictly my own. *

Have you heard of Invisalign yet?

I have heard so many great things about them, and honestly, I'm pretty shocked. It's really amazing what changes have occurred over time to allow people (teens! Especially teens!) to have a more "modern" choice when they make the decision to move forward with straightening their teeth.

Although I didn't have braces growing up, many of my friends did. I can remember the struggles with those metal wires, random things snapping and popping, the numerous appointments to keep their mouths in tip-top shape.

They'd plan their meals around what they could and couldn't eat, struggle with painful moments inflicted on them BY their braces, and often find themselves embarrassed by the way that their smiles looked. And forget about kissing! The horrors!

Taking pictures w. the #BlackberryZ10 #VZWA

* I have received a BlackberryZ10 phone and service to use for three months as provided to me by Verizon Wireless. This post reflects my personal experiences while using the phone and its features as a Verizon Wireless ambassador. I am not further compensated for this post. It is an honest review of the Z10's camera features. *

I went to the zoo with my daughter's kindergarten class the other day.

Pause. Take a moment to let that sink in, would you? I. Went to the zoo. On a field trip. With 20-something kindergarteners. AND three other K classes.

Yes.

I did it.

And I survived!

And I brought my BlackberryZ10 phone with me. See it? *Look down!*

It's as sleek as ever, easy to use, and my absolute favorite feature is the camera. It seriously might be giving the Samsung Galaxy S3 camera a run for its money!

One of the best things about the Z10's camera is the instant touch to take a picture. You don't have to find the camera "shutter" when you want to take your shot, you just tap the screen and the picture is yours. Capture the moment immediately!

This is especially beneficial when taking pictures of children. And, as you'll see in a moment, animals.

Getting my 6-year-old to stay still for a few shots to be sure I've caught the right one is never easy. But with the Blackberry Z10 I'm in luck. I'm actually able to take a handful of pictures before she blinks. Tap - tap - tap! No fumbling for the small circle on your screen. Just hit it anywhere. I've taken pictures of myself and friends using my knuckle on the screen. Seriously. It worked!

And look at how crisp and sharp these pictures turned out:

Excuse my giant head, I was kind of close to the camera, going for the "There's an elephant right behind you!" kind of shot. And hey - it worked!

These images have only been edited to include my @goodgirlgoneredneck watermark-tag. I have not filtered or touched them up in any way. They're awesome. If I do say so myself. Keep looking ...

Do I not seem as though I am right next to the animals? I mean, if you're going by these shots, I could reach out and touch them, right? Obviously that's not true - but this camera made me really happy. I didn't even bring my regular digital camera with me. I stuck with the phone and was glad I saved myself from having to carry something extra.

I did tweak the following picture a bit because I wanted to blur out my daughter's classmates, but I love how the camera caught her looking into the water - a beautiful glow and pretty shot - as she looked for the seals, or maybe something else? I forget!

SO, if you're looking for a new phone and a great camera is a critical characteristic, I can tell you that so far the Z10 is a huge hit with me.

More on the phone's other features soon ... just stay with me and check out the #VZWA and #VZWVoices hashtags for more discussions.

* Reminder: I am participating in the Verizon Wireless ambassador program at this time. Verizon Wireless has provided me with a phone and three months of service in exchange for my honest review of the product. #VZWA #VZWVoices *

Bling it up wherever you can! ~ #spon #VZWA #VZWVoices

**Disclosure: I am a Verizon Wireless Ambassador and I have been given a phone and service to use for three months in exchange for honest posts about my experience. At this time I am using the Blackberry Z10. **

Accessories make the woman, I often think. At least for me.

Sometimes buying clothes is not the easiest thing. But bags? Absolutely!

Bangles and earrings? Always.

Rings? Scarves? Hats? Flip flops Yes. Yes. And yes.

Today I'm going to talk a little bit about some of the accessories Verizon Wireless has available on their website.

The first accessory I have to sing praises for is the Fitbit Zip.

I'm lucky to have received one from Verizon Wireless in my role as an ambassador. It helps motivate me when I need a kick in the you-know-where!

I have the black/grey one, but the other colors are really fun.

You can purchase one for yourself by heading over to the Verizon Wireless website. Check out the green fitbit zip because it's bright and funky feeling!

Fitbit Zip

But wait - don't purchase one yet! I have a way for you to get a coupon code if you stay with me. Or skip to the end. I know how it is. So much to do and so little time.

Verizon also sells scales now.

I know. I know. WHAT? Scales? Can I not escape them EVER?

I feel you. My relationship with my scale is a tumultuous one.

But this one looks kind of cool. Very sleek. AND it can connect with your smartphone fitness apps. Pretty fancy, right? I want one, in that I'm also a little afraid of it kind of way.

Aria Wi-Fi Smart Scale
And friends. This is crazy. You thought the scale was kind of cool? Check it ...

A BABY MONITOR. Not just a regular ole audio one (though they have one of those, too). But a VIDEO baby monitor. Woot! I'd buy one for everyone I knew if I could. It just looks THAT cool.

Withings Smart Baby Monitor
And just because accessories can come in more than black and white - and we all need a little flair sometimes - how cute is this?
Juicy Couture - Rosette Universal Tablet Sleeve
And just so you guys don't feel left out, how awesome is this?

Batman Hard Cover
I kind of want one. Or might prefer Wonder Woman ... hint hint to the accessory makers out there!

Okay, so here's the best part of the deal. If you're looking to purchase one of these incredible items, OR any other accessory on the site that catches your eye, I've got a coupon code for you.

All you need to do is text goodgirlgonered to 22699 to receive your 25% off any one accessory at Verizon Wireless. How cool is that? No strings attached! Tell all your friends. They'll thank you - for sure.

**Disclosure: I am a Verizon Wireless Ambassador and I have been given a phone and service to use for three months in exchange for honest posts about my experience. At this time I am using the Blackberry Z10. **

I Drink Silk ~ Do you?

* This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Silk. *

I'm a big Silk drinker. Always have been.

I started off with soy, but made my way to almond. I drink it. Use it in cereal. My daughter uses it regularly. I even bake with it! Sssh, don't tell my husband. He can't tell the difference. I've been known to cook with it in a pinch, too.

I've also tried their Fruit & Protein beverages. Very smoothie-like and my daughter loved them.

I'm also a fan of their Vanilla creamer. It's a staple when I brew some chai tea at home. Perfect flavor.

Now Silk is introducing their newest addition to the Silk family. Iced Lattes.

Yes. I mean it. Iced lattes. Ready at the pour.

No need to brew coffee. Add the milk of your choice. Sugar or sweeten it up.

None of these extra steps.

Simply pop open the tab and pour.

Ta dah! Lattes in the comfort of your own home. No more $5+ lattes for this girl. And the perfect latte during the week when you don't have time to run out and grab one and none of your favorite coffee shops deliver.

If you're anything like me then you know that stopping in the midst of a crazy afternoon, sitting down for a few minutes with an iced cold latte? It's like heaven. It's delightful.

It brings me back to sitting on the top step of my Brooklyn porch with my mom and her homemade iced coffee. I wasn't a coffee drinker. I was just a kid. But she'd still let me have a sip or two and I'd feel just a little bit grown up for a few minutes.

I see it now with my own daughter. I wonder if she'll remember taking a quick sip of my iced latte and feel the same kind of nostalgia someday?

Try it out for yourself. Make your own memories. #TasteSilk today!

Silk has been a favorite of mine for quite some time. Now that they have iced lattes I'm excited to have them available to me whenever I want! What is typically your favorite latte flavor?

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Silk. The opinions and text are all mine.

I have to talk about underwear now.

Yes, I mean it.

I'm doing some reviewing as an In the Mood Intimates Ambassador.

Which means I got a free pair of cute underwear in October.

It's pink. And pretty. I have a picture or two, but don't worry, I'm not going all flashy on you. I promise.

I'll admit, I wasn't sure this would be something I'd be interested in doing. But I got curious. So I checked out their website.

And - it's not TMI yet, I promise - they have plus-sized lingerie. Check it out. Twenty-four pages worth of the stuff! Pretty cool, no?

Check out the packaging...

It arrived in a splashy gold box with a cream ribbon bow. Brand name sticker underneath. It was perfectly discreet.

And then I opened it up.

Here's where the TMI part comes in. Sorry.

Click this link to learn more about the pair of Hanky Panky Signature Lace Plus-Size Boyshorts I received.

And check out the next picture to see how pretty and pink they are. A delicate lace that is more comfortable than not, true-to-size, these boyshorts fit and for lack of a better word, function really well.

The plus-sized product comes in a variety of four colors to choose from. These undies also come in non-plus-sizes. Those are available in eight colors, and (this is expected) run a few dollars less than the plus-sized pair.

I don't know how much you normally spend on your underwear, but if you're in the market to treat yourself to a new pair that's prettier than your usual undergarments, check these out. Because sometimes it's nice to have that little secret of something lacy on underneath your winter clothes!

Shop123go ~ Product Review

So a few months ago (My apologies as I'm so horribly late in reviewing!) I was approached to review some products from Shop123go.com.

I received the following shift convertible tote in blue:

And I love it! It's very similar to some other grocery bags that I have and what I love most about it is how it folds up so compactly and can fit in my handbag whenever I am out and about and don't know if I might need a tote for an unexpected shopping trip.
My only "wish" for this bag was that it had a drawstring or something that would guarantee that it wouldn't open up or unfold in any way. Otherwise the size, the material, all of it was perfect.

The second item I received for review is the
Crossover Tote Backpack.

This bag is really cute, and in theory should be an excellent idea. I like being able to turn the bag into a backpack, but I had a few issues with the whole experience. First and foremost, because of the way the straps work, the tote handles are kind of difficult to maneuver when you keep it in "tote" form. It's actually -- surprisingly -- much better functioning as a backpack. I think for some basic day-to-day use it could be a great bag.

But the one issue I had with it in this style is that there is no way to close the bag. Maybe it's my NYC paranoia resurfacing, but I know if I ever walked around with this bag in front of my mom she'd be right behind me making sure nobody grabbed anything out of it.

I fully intend to give it a few more test runs this spring and summer, when the weather is nice enough and I can take it to the pool and stuff some towels and extras in there without any concerns of anything falling out.

It's also a perfect place to put all your reusable grocery shopping bags, convertible totes or other kinds. I have found that when I hit the store for a big trip it's a space saver to not have to shove these in the cart before checking out, I can just stick them in the bag and pop it on my back, with my hands free to do my shopping and couponing!

Overall, the site itself has some really cute bags. I definitely plan to make my way over there as the season changes and I hope to get myself something adorable like this shopping tote for the spring or
this cute beach bag for the summer. I hope you'll head on over and check them out.

Happy shopping!

It's February ...

It's late and I'm fried. My daughter's been asleep since around ten. She woke up at 6:30. I think I was half awake for the first few hours. I don't really remember. My husband went upstairs an hour or so ago. I'm exhausted. I'm too tired to walk up the stairs to get to my warm and cozy bed. Also, I know I have laundry to move from the washer to the dryer.

Yeah, it's midnight. I know.

Sigh ...

Hopefully there are no tiny eyes around as you read this post, but if there are you should be alright. Just don't click any links until they leave, okay?

Since we're all friends here I'm going to cut to the chase.
EdenFantasys. Have you heard of them? I've looked at their site a few times. Clicked here and there. And they seem like a high class shop. From what I've read, they're also really discreet. We like discreet, right?

I know what you're thinking. Sounds perfect.

So I took a look at their interesting product line.
And since I don't want to scare anyone away with embarrassment I've gone through their web catalog and wanted to give you a glimpse or two that are not intimidating.

They have really nice lingerie! They even have selections in larger sizes. And pretty affordable, as well. It's nice to see that we don't have to break the bank to get our sexy on.

Or for a little light-hearted fun, you can imagine serving THIS for dinner or bringing it to your next potluck? I may have to get some and make a casserole with them, just for the fun of it.
Or the shock value. Take your pick ...

And for some less risque type products, you can find candles, mood music and massage oils in their sensual love section.

So take a look, see what you come across that you're interested in. I'm sure there are coupon codes abound these days, especially with the 14th rapidly approaching. I would bet my last paycheck (so what if it was years ago? It was decent money!) your other half would be quite surprised if you treated him or her to something new. When all the pressures of making Valentine's Day into something wonderful, memorable and then some. I mean - come on - does your holiday really have that much excitement to it? No? Then check out this website. Again. Seriously. Find yourself something fun!

Sigh ... then again, maybe just some nice candles for a quiet bath. That sounds beautiful. And relaxing. And so peaceful. And relaxing. Did I mention they have aromatherapy candles? Seriously. I need to get my hands on a few of those ...

Sex toys - EdenFantasys adult toys store

**At the time of this post I have not been compensated in any way, but I have been informed by EdenFantasys that I could receive a Love Card (giftcard) from them for posting about their site. Having done so, I will hopefully be able to purchase some of those candles ... or something. And if you're interested in an opportunity to win a love card for their website, keep yer eye on me, as I hope to be giving one away sometime soon. **

Dial Diaries: Ends as the New Year Begins

I fell slack on posting about the Dial Diaries experience here for you, my friends.

I'm a Dial NutriSkin Member!

I started a post to cover Weeks 2 and 3 last week, and then it turned into nothing, as I just didn't really know what to say. Here's a link to my post from the first week, in case you're interested and might have missed it.

I think I went into this with too high of an expectation. I kind of thought there would be interaction between participants, along with some words from the "expert" aka "guide" aka Amy Hendel. Instead we got to log in, possibly post some questions for her if we had any, and I honestly have no clue (edited to update, I now, at the end of the program, have a small clue as I just saw a fellow participant comment on my Week 1 post!) who else is participating in this event. There's no camaraderie here. No connections. And it honestly makes me kind of sad.
Now, don't get me wrong, she [Amy - and no, we're not on a first name basis] seemed nice enough in her videos, and in her small excerpts that we - as participants - were given access to to inspire us or something. But she didn't really do much inspiring for me overall.

And it's been four weeks and we've only been shown 2 other blog entries / articles written by those participating in this program, so that's been kind of eh, as well.

But lest I keep complaining and seem ungrateful, I will share that week 2 was about skincare, and I did receive a surprise bottle of Dial NutriSkin body wash that I could give a test run. I liked it enough and it's hanging out in my shower. It's kind of minty, which is always nice, and has a cherry scent. Apparently cherry seed oil is good for your skin - or something.

And week 3 was about exercise. Or maybe I have those backwards. But I DID actually appreciate the reminder that it's important to move our bodies. I'd been working out a bit here and there, and trying to get myself moving to the point that I could notice a change in me. And it's working. Albeit a slow and steady climb, I've lost a mini-amount of weight since the four weeks began, and I will say thanks to Dial for motivating me to start a focus of this nature.

**More on that in a future post, as Santa bought our family a Wii for Christmas and I just ordered the Wii Fit Deluxe, too! Way to go, Santa! You must know we ate loads of those cookies we left for you. Oh, and the pumpkin muffins. And the egg nog - oh, wait, I hate egg nog. But hey, a Wii! Yahoo!**

Lastly, we're encouraged to find "me time," time for ourselves where we take the focus off of everyone else, remove ourselves from those around us and find time to be centered, etc. Amy encourages us to get organized enough to be able to find that sort of time for ourselves every single day. Can you imagine? I can't - but I'd like to be able to. I've been trying to do so this past week, and the previous weekend, as well, in fact, as my husband has been home for the long holiday weekends, so I've been able to find some time to just hide away upstairs with a game of Angry Birds to keep me entertained. And hey - it's working. At least until the wee one comes upstairs and crashes in on me. But that has to count for something, right?

So - wrapping up I'd like to thank Dial for my free sample, and for the chance to participate along with 99 other bloggers. I only wish I knew who those people were ... but hey, it's never too late to make connections, so that's what I'll have to try to do!

Happy New Year, Dial.

Thanks for being a small part of my kick-starting myself off to becoming a healthier ME.

** The opinions expressed in this post are completely my own. I have not been compensated in any way for my post or for expressing my opinions. I did receive the aforementioned shower gel from Dial, and I was to be entered in a trip giveaway after these four weeks had ended. I think we can all safely assume I'm out of the running for that one - right?**

Beecology: Product Review and Giveaway

When I opened the door to receive my package from Beecology, it was like, well, I'd imagine what Christmas morning was like when you were a little kid. I was contacted by them to see if I'd be interested in getting some samples to review and to host a giveaway. If you remember my product addiction, I quickly checked out their website, and when I saw that their products are all natural, I had to give them a shot.

So when I opened up a box that was filled with this:

You can guess I was in pure heaven. My daughter, who has begun to carry on my addiction, was beyond excited. She wanted to open everything up. Smell it all at once, use whatever she could. Now wait just a minute there, sister, these are mommy's treats, not yours!

I've tried almost everything and I really am loving these products. Beecology doesn't mess around with their stuff. They're the real deal. Mmmn. Yummy smelling, too.

Just a quick one-liner about the lip balm: Perfection. I love it. It's gentle, smells good, perfect for adults and kids alike (I should know - remember my daughter the product addict? She goes for lip stuff straight away!).

I've used the shampoo and conditioner, and honestly, I am still trying to determine how they work with my hair.
I am trying to decide which I like more, the shampoo or the conditioner. I like them both, but I am kind of preferring them separately. I use conditioner in waves. Sometimes sparingly, sometimes every day for a week, and I like the way this one feels. And yesterday the conditioner seemed lighter. Something about the way it smells ... it's such a natural smell.

But, what I have to express complete and utter addiction to is ... the BAR SOAPS. I am seriously addicted to these soaps. Look at them:

First of all, they're huge. I wasn't sure if I'd want to try them, being more of a shower gel girl, myself. But, hey, I was open to giving them a shot. So, I let my daughter pick out which one she wanted to open for the downstairs bathroom. She picked the purple one. The purple one is honey and lavender. She loved it. I LOVE it. I smells so clean and fresh, and we love having it at the ready to wash our hands.

Then I decided I needed one at the kitchen sink. You all know how it is, when it feels like you wash your hands 100x a day and they're getting rough and dry. Honey Oatmeal for the kitchen. It just seemed like the perfect fit!

And then I took a chance, even with the shower gel samples they sent me, and I popped one open to use in the shower. The Totally Hip Hemp Soap. It's got a citrus-y scent and I really like it. Check out their line of soaps here, and watch me flip out because I swear there weren't that many choices the last time I looked! I can't wait to try the Coffee one, and the Dead Sea Mud Soap, as well.

At $5.99 per bar, these soaps are no joke. They're thick and hearty. They're fresh and sensitive. I absolutely love them and am completely addicted to them. It's crazy, isn't it? Me, a shower gel kind of girl turning into a soap addict simply because of Beecology!

Anyway, enough of my rambling ... let me share the wealth a little bit.

I would love to try the all natural hair conditioner. I have such long, thin hair that tangles so easily. This might be a great item for my hair.

EcoStore USA: Product Review

Some time ago I received two products for review from ecoSTORE USA.

The summer took hold and although we had tried the two products, the review of them, you know, the one I wrote in my head? Well, it never made it to the page. For that, I'm terribly sorry and apologize to ecoSTORE wholeheartedly!

I was happy to accept their offer to review two products from their natural and non-toxic line of products. And, as their website will tell you, ALL of their products are environmentally friendly. Which is a huge plus when you're trying to be GREEN like I am.

So, which products to choose? Let's start off for the kiddo. I picked the baby body wash. Yes, yes, what timing after I just confessed to being addicted to products, right? Well, bear with me, it's worth it ...

This stuff smelled fresh and clean, and it was kind of hard to judge on my daughter, as for her I'm mostly pouring it into the bathtub with hopes of a huge display of bubbles. So, what's a good product reviewer to do? Try it for myself! So I did. I used it in the shower and I liked it. It was mild, but cleansing and the lack of *scent* was perfect for me. But honestly, I have to sing higher praises of the second product I tested out.

The LAUNDRY DETERGENT!

I love this stuff. I want to live off this stuff. It smells so great, it's just a fresh and clean scent. And when you check out the ingredients you'll see exactly what the scent comes from. It's Eucalyptus oil. It's kind of like when I worked in Manhattan and walked across the street to the Pier 1 store and spent about 1/2 of my lunch hour hovering in the Eucalyptus branch section, and even bought some for my bedroom because it just has that calming feel to the smell. Ahhh.I'm sorry, did I lose you? I guess I kind of got lost there in the memory for a moment. You know how scents can bring you back to certain times and places? That's what this stuff does for me.

Anyway, the detergent left my clothes, towels and sheets clean, and the scent is light enough that it's barely even there when you take your stuff out of the dryer. I liked that I could easily use it on my daughter's clothing, and I especially liked using it for towels, because we all know how towels just get that stank to them? And this refreshing liquid seemed to clean them better than most.

So, I definitely recommend giving ecoSTORE USA a try if you're looking for safe and environmentally friendly products. And if you're hesitant, trust me! And if you don't trust me, well, check out their website, or shoot them an email and ask for more information. They'll happily provide it to you and answer any questions you may have.

** I was not compensated in any way for this review. ecoSTORE USA did provide me with these two products free of charge to facilitate my review, but the opinions included are strictly my own. **
