It's My Party
And I'll whine if I want to.
This illin' business is enough already. My daughter had a better day yesterday, but today is whining more than I have ever heard her whine in my entire life. Another 24 hours of Nick and Nick Jr. But if I have to watch The Fresh Beat Band one more time I might claw my own eyes out. Or maybe plug my ears.
So, empanadas for breakfast today. Well, breakfast and lunch. They're two leftover from dinner. Thankfully hubby bought these for us to freeze, or who knows what I would have wound up with. For her, she ate breakfast, and now it's ice cream for lunch. Considering we've been up since like 6:30, I think it's OK for her to have some at around 1PM, right? I mean, the other day she had some and when I looked at the clock as she asked, it was only 9:25. As in IN THE MORNING. But who cares? It's milk, right? Dairy? Really good for her? Say it with me. At the very least it was Breyer's, and we all know they're on the healthy end of the ice cream spectrum.
What really pisses me off about Nickeolodeon is that they have commercials. I much prefer Nick Jr (formerly known as Noggin) because of the no-commercials policy. At this point with all of the regular Nick we've been watching I should have to buy her a Little Mermaid doll whose hair changes colors when wet, a set of eerily scary looking little Disney princess baby dolls, Connect Four (have you seen the new version of this? Seriously out there!) and a doll that not only eats, pees, AND poops, but SAYS: 'I made a stinky.' I mean, really? Seriously? I have to listen to this? But of course, because Nick, and not Nick Jr. is the only channel that plays back-to-back-to-back Dora and Dora and Dora and Diego. And so on and so forth. Ah, the joys of Mommyhood.
As for me, I'm still battling this thing. Whether it's our own version of Swine Flu, some sort of sinus infection, or just a plain ole cold, I'm fighting it hard and planning to beat it. You can't take me down, you nasty germs! I'll kick you into next year! I'll be damned if my daughter doesn't get a single piece of candy for trick-or-treating (read = I don't get to steal at least one Reeses' PB cup from her treat bag!) or at least get to dress up and take one picture in one of the two costumes we have for her. So COME ON! Bring it on! And get lost!Kicking hard and still fighting ... and exhausted already, and it's barely afternoon ... **me (I really do need to make a signature for my blog, it'd be fun to be able to use it now and then!)

Shows that make me laugh
Although I am a huge fan of criminal dramas, and love my favorite soap and Ellen, but give me a half-hour comedy and I'm happy as a clam.
Here are a few that I absolutely love, adore and cannot live without:
* Not yet on again for the season, but as far as I can tell, they were renewed by CBS. Which is fantastic news! The show is tongue-in-cheek kind of funny, almost has that Seinfeld feel to it, which might be because they spend a lot of time in a diner, but could also be because of *Putty/Puddy,* {I'm obviously so not sure how to spell that, and neither is anyone else on the Web!} He's so friggin hilarious I'd watch him in anything. And you know what? I actually do! See this MAC commercial and you will, too.
* Tina Fey? Love her. Alec Baldwin? Hilarious. Tracey Jordan? Annoying, but mostly in an appropriately funny sort of way. Jane Krakowski? Nobody better. Kenneth? Does he even have a real name? Does anyone care? He's adorable. Too much. Did I mention how much I worship Tina Fey?
*Jay Mohr made me so horribly sad when he left Ghost Whisperer to start this show. I swear I shed a small tear when he left. And now he has me crying every week. With laughter. He's hysterical. Add to his ridiculously laid back character a high-maintenance ex-wife, a straight-A daughter and a bit of a wimp for a son, plus his visiting military brother, and you've got a show made in heaven. Seriously. I avoided it at first, thought it would just be another failure. I hoped, at first. I mean, Melinda needs him, ya know? But she moved on, and so did I. I love Gary. He's a pi$$er and a half. Seriously. Watch this show. Watch it with your husband, your wife, even your ex. Because this show makes ANY relationship look fun!
So, that's my sit-com wrap-up for late 2009. Hope you find at least one new piece of info in my post tonight. And if not, well, please leave a comment, because I think we'd be great friends!
Here are a few that I absolutely love, adore and cannot live without:
The Office
*If you're not a fan, well, you're really missing out. This show is hilarious. And often quite painful. Michael Scott is such a disaster, it's amazing how his character even functions. Between him and Dwight, the show has been a mess since day one. Add Andy to that mix and you have a beautiful disaster. But most importantly, we have Jim and Pam. Star-crossed lovers for oh-so-long, but now, on the eve of their wedding day, they finally connect. I CANNOT wait for tomorrow's episode. I'm so excited!
How I Met Your Mother
*Honestly, at this point I don't even care how he met their mother! The rest of the story just totally rocks. My husband and I actually refer to the show as "Barney," referring to NPH's character. His relationship with Robin continues to blossom this season, and he is as ... wait for it ... awesome as ever. Marshall and Lily are adorably annoying and yet perfect at the same time, and Ted, well, Ted is Ted. He's the storyteller, the exaggerator, and he's Ted! Tune in, I promise you'll be glad you did!
Rules of Engagement
* Not yet on again for the season, but as far as I can tell, they were renewed by CBS. Which is fantastic news! The show is tongue-in-cheek kind of funny, almost has that Seinfeld feel to it, which might be because they spend a lot of time in a diner, but could also be because of *Putty/Puddy,* {I'm obviously so not sure how to spell that, and neither is anyone else on the Web!} He's so friggin hilarious I'd watch him in anything. 30 Rock
* Tina Fey? Love her. Alec Baldwin? Hilarious. Tracey Jordan? Annoying, but mostly in an appropriately funny sort of way. Jane Krakowski? Nobody better. Kenneth? Does he even have a real name? Does anyone care? He's adorable. Too much. Did I mention how much I worship Tina Fey?
Gary Unmarried
*Jay Mohr made me so horribly sad when he left Ghost Whisperer to start this show. I swear I shed a small tear when he left. And now he has me crying every week. With laughter. He's hysterical. Add to his ridiculously laid back character a high-maintenance ex-wife, a straight-A daughter and a bit of a wimp for a son, plus his visiting military brother, and you've got a show made in heaven. A budding photographer?
Is it possible that we have our very own budding photographer in our home? Check out some of these shots my little one has taken over the past month or so, completely (I mean it!) on her own:

Considering that for the most part I am her subject, I'm not loving all of these "perfect" shots, but I'll live ... and I'll share her talent with all of you anyway. Besides, there are only so many pictures the girl can take of her Muffin Tins each Monday!
I think we may have to either a) get her a kid-friendly camera, OR b) get me a new camera and give her my not-yet-old one! What do you think?

Our Weekend!
We had an amazing weekend. On Saturday we spent some time with a friend and her horse, Apple. My little one had a blast sitting on the horse and taking a ride around the farm area. We also saw some chickens, so that was really exciting!
On Sunday we went to Falls Lake and took the boat out for a spin. It was a lot of fun as well, and lil miss enjoyed driving the boat, feeling the "bumps" (waves!) and even watched her daddy catch a fish! She caught the same one over and over with her Dora fishing pole, and yet each time it was really exciting!
I'm already ready for the upcoming weekend. We're due rain all this week, but today is kind of pretty in a misty/not quite clear-not quite rainy kind of day. I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend as much as we did here in NC. Looking forward to reading your updates!

Muffin Tin Monday!
Simple and easy snack for us this week. My little girl wanted to eat "sherul" (cereal) in her heart tin, so we wound up w. a tin full of Cheerios! As you can see, she's digging in on her own and stuffing her lil mouth to her heart's content!

So happy and relaxed, she pulled up her DORA chair and sat herself down in front of the TV to enjoy her snack!
Looking for more info on Muffin Tin Mondays? Check out Michelle's Blog at Her Cup Overfloweth for more info and to join in on the fun! See you next Monday!

Laurie Berkner is my new BFF
She really is. If she isn't it's only because she doesn't have a clue who I am. Oh no, but I know her. Yes I do. I know you, Ms. Laurie Berkner. And whether you like it or not, today you are my BFF.
Right now my daughter is calm after her daddy went out for dinner and a movie w. a friend. She was losing it, but I decided to put *music* on. It's the "Let's Hear it for Laurie" special that was on Noggin a few weeks (a month yet?) back. My little one LOVES it, and is happy as a clam ... which has always been an interesting saying to me, because how does one know how happy a clam is, actually? But I digress ...
Laurie, if you're out there, and I know you're not, I just wanted to let you know that you've saved me twice today. The first time being when my daughter was playing on the laptop, and yes, our MAC laptop, she doesn't have her own toy one so she knows how to use ours too well for my liking! Lil Miss *I* requested music. "I need MUuuuSIC."
OK, so there I am. I'm working on it. I'm trying to get her something to dance to, and decided, you know what? iTunes is my friend, and on iTunes I have Laurie! Yahoo!!!
Anyway, thanks, L! Please know if I can ever return the favor I will surely come up with something to help you out. And if you ever hit the Raleigh-Durham area, give me a ring, I'd love to put you up for a few days. You're not allergic to cats or dogs are you? Or kids? Uhm, scratch that last one. I've seen your videos, we're all clear there. And I promise not to laugh at the pig on your head. After all, if you keep it there all day you must already get poked fun at enough to last you.

Picnic Table Talk
So I have totally been meaning to post these pictures of my daughter "rolling in the grass," as she puts it. She had done a tumblesault/somersault (I checked, both are accurate) before, but this was pretty insane!
Anyway, when I noticed that the Picnic Table Talk over at ABC and 123 I thought it would be a perfect time to share these shots:

So tired ...
Child is so stubborn. Must fight need to crash. Must wash dishes. Sink is full. Too full.
D@mned dishwasher still not fixed.
Would like to finish watching last night's SYTYCD episode, and tonight, the big 100th episode partay. Katie Holmes (seriously?) and all that jazz (insert eye-roll here.) I love Ellen, but she did not belong on the judges {jidges, ah, Cat, you did look striking last night ...} panel, and I think she knew it. But I digress!
More than half-packed for girls' weekend in CT. Catching up with friends from college, most of whom I have not seen since long before I moved to NC. Almost all have children and we will be men free, child free and simply free (if you saw my Wordless Wednesday post this week, that tee is from the first time we did this kind of weekend, and sadly, the last time I attended. As you can imagine I am quite looking forward to some girl-time!)
Enjoy the weekend. Don't miss me too much. I promise to have a drink or two, or an entire bottle of Barefoot Moscato (my fave these days!) for you! As my little one would say, "Cheers!"
