Just write.

Today I sit down and just write.

It's my first blog post on my new machine. Thanks to my absolutely amazing husband and my just as amazing 5-yo, I have a MacBook Air to post on. So you're wondering why it's taken me so long? Yeah - I've been busy, y'all. Ya know how it is.

First of all, my thoughts are with friends and family in the NorthEast who are in the path of the storm. It's crazy weather out there and I hope everyone stays safe and warm and inside where I can keep tabs on them. Hurricane Sandy is no joke. Watching the coverage of the washed out parts of New Jersey. I can joke all I want about NJ as a New Yorker, but seriously, friends, this storm is hitting them hard. Not cool. So many areas I've spent time washed out ... AC, the boardwalk, the Jersey Shore. It's way more than a pseudo-reality-TV show, I can promise you that.

I'm using facebook to keep tabs on people. As much as Twitter is and will always be my first love (and yes, I did tweet this today) I find that my family is on FB, as Twitter has no real purpose for them. So I need to stay on board and keep tabs on my peeps. Or something like that.

I have a lot to do this week here in this space. Lots of reviews that will show up together and make me look like I've sold out or something, but I promise it's just the timing. Pinky promise!

I turned 40 on Sunday and it was a beautiful day. We spent a few hours at the airport waiting and watching to make sure my mom took off to head home to NY before the storm. She was scheduled to stay through Monday but it made more sense to get her home to my dad before she got stuck here. Which would have been fun for us, but he would have been home solo and it just wouldn't have worked. Anyway - we had a great weekend. Took Momma out on the boat for her first ride on Friday and we loved it. Loads of awesome pictures to capture the moments. (Side note thanks to my amazing #VZWA Galaxy S3!!)

Then on Saturday I did the Color Me Rad race. A 5K that I ran some of, plugged my iPod into my ears and walked much of, and got sprayed with a truckload of color throughout the hour or so it took me. Which breaks down to 20 minute miles, which is along the lines of what I've normally pulled off, so I'm cool with that. Either way, I totally DID IT. And I'm proud of that, big time.

My husband got me this beautiful MacBook Air. Should a laptop be beautiful? If not, too bad. Mine is.

Although he yelled at me for keeping it at my desk. The battery life should outlast me in a given day, so I should be able to move around with it but I'm sort of used to being "stuck" here due to wireless issues in the past. Anyway, it's okay. It's all good.

I think I am going to sign up for the Dirty Girl Mud Run in March. It's a run and an obstacle course and goodness knows if I'll be able to do it but I'll sure as heck try. It's a part of my motto or something about being fabulous at forty! Woot woot!

So here are a few pics of my birthday weekend. Hope you are all faring well as the storm fades away (hopefully) and looking forward to sharing my 40th year with you all.

  5. YAY for fabulous and forty! Now I"m doubly upset I didn't see you to give you a colorful birthday hug! I was asked to do Dirty Girl with friends but it's $65! That's too expensive for this girl!

And I just saw an aerial of Jersey and heard about the pier at Seaside Heights... disheartening, but at the same time, I can't help but be glad my family was spared. Thoughts and prayers to everyone up north.
