Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? Mindy Kaling ~ book review

reading, amreading, books, review

First of all, I want to be Mindy Kaling's new best friend.

As in IMMEDIATELY.

Her book was so good. I don't know why I waited so long to read it.

I loved it.

She's hilarious. She's real. She's raw. She's entertaining.

Can I give you more adjectives to explain how much I loved the book? Probably. But why bother, right? Just take what I've said so far and go grab yourself a copy. She's so cute.

But you can't be her bestie. That's my job.

Fine. Probably not because Mindy talks about her actual real-life besties. And they sound great. It sounds like she has a lot of fun with them and that's awesome. It's actually part of why I want to be her friend. Not because she's talented and famous and she's Mindy Kaling. But because she seems like the kind of person I'd totally love and click with and enjoy, ya know?

I think that I held off because I wasn't 100% sure if it was going to be a heavily self-deprecating humor type of read. But she pleasantly surprised me because she did poke fun at herself, and granted, she did it a lot, but most of the time it was just a really enjoyable read. One that I - if you can't already tell - obviously recommend.

You can grab a paperback or Kindle copy of Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?* on Amazon immediately. You won't regret it.

And more importantly? This is a completely non-sponsored post. I loved the book, I decided to tell you guys it was worth a read and now you will go and get it so you can see for yourself.

  3. I love Mindy. There is something about her that is so relatable. This book has been on my to read list for awhile. Maybe I'll get around to it faster now that I've read your review. :)

  4. I laughed my head off during the first half about her childhood since I could totally relate, family and bad 70's clothes, I think we could have been sisters. Once she went into TV the entertainment value went down for me. I admire her though for breaking into a male dominated industry for comedy writing. Glad you loved it and had a chance to read something just for you!

  8. I so want to be Mindy's BFF. I've been reading this on my Kindle app, but just added it to my wish list (the paperback version) because I think I'd read it faster there.
