Raise A Glass To TOPO Organic Distillery

TOPO Organic Distillery, distillery tour, Chapel Hill North Carolina, NC eats, organic spirits, whiskey, whiskey reserve, Carolina Straight Wheat Whiskey, Moonshine, Eight Oak Whiskey, Vodka, Gin

* This event was coordinated by the NCSocial Facebook group (run by me and Kate Kelly of Life of a Ginger) and TOPO Organic Distillery. The distillery tour was hosted, as was much of the meal. All attendees purchased their own dinner entrĂ©es. *

I live in Durham, so I'm not over in Chapel Hill very often. That said - I absolutely must remedy that. Because after my tour of the TOPO Distillery and dinner at Top of the Hill? I need to go back. As in, really, really, really need to go back.

The drink was lovely. Quality liquor without a horrible aftertaste or a rubbing alcohol smell to it.

The food? Incredible. I could live off of the appetizers, certainly, and the Moonshine Mule I got to drink? Yeah. Dangerous. Tasted like Sprite. So good. So so good.

And my dinner was amazing. So, as I said, I need to go back. And I'm quite certain that you need to go there, too.

Let me talk about the distillery first.
I'm not a straight up no ice alcohol drinker, so I had no idea if I'd even be able to do any taste testing or try any of the purest of spirits. But, the ultimate sacrificer I am, I did it for all of you.

And I enjoyed myself.

I, and my fellow NCSocial attendees, tried TOPO's vodka, moonshine whiskey, gin, eight oaks whiskey AND their not-yet-released whiskey reserve. Of course, as it would turn out, I have quite expensive tastes. The reserve was my favorite. So so smooth. So so good.

After our tour and taste testing our group headed over to Top of the Hill for dinner.

There is too much to say about how amazing this menu is, so I'll stick with these pictures instead. These are the many appetizers we had the opportunity to enjoy. My personal favorites are the nachos (omg, y'all, the NACHOS!!!!) and the chicken parmesan flatbread. Because cheese. Glorious cheese. And in the collage below you'll see a picture of the chicken pot pie I ordered. It's brilliant because it's sort of deconstructed, and therefore you experience a phenomenal combination of incredible taste in every bite. And honestly? I was so full that night that it made a delicious breakfast the next morning.

A tremendous thanks to Esteban of TOPO Organic Distillery for his hospitality and for welcoming us to the facility with open arms. Learning about the distilling process and how high quality the spirits are at this location was not only informative, but a fun experience. I am beyond thrilled to have had the opportunity to get to know more about this business and the distilling process.

Next time you're in need of a bottle of liquor to bring to a party or for when you're having guests over, be sure to look for TOPO at your nearest ABC Store. You'll be glad you did, and your friends will be, too! And when you're out and about in Chapel Hill and looking for a place to go? Head to Top of the Hill. Whether it's dinner you want, a few drinks in a wonderful atmosphere, or to head downstairs to play pool and grab a beer? This is the place.

And I'm unable to vouch for every item on the menu, but between the appetizers pictures above and the main courses many of my friends ordered I can assure you you're unlikely to choose anything you won't love. So - head on over - and enjoy!
