How is it that ...

You don't obsess over your followers? I know some of you have WAY more than I could ever imagine I'd have, so you can answer this question.

But I lost one overnight. :[ Wonder what happened? I was *thisclose* to having 100, and one of you fell away. Was it someone I recently de-followed? Un-followed? I guess I feel like I'm invisible to some people and they never respond to my comments or post on my site, so I dropped them from my following list. I think it's an interesting world, this bloggy-land, and so I like to have people I communicate with, ya know?

But I also know I can't reach everyone. With my words, or my time. I try to check out all the blogs. I think I need to turn on comment moderation so this way I get the e-mailed comments to me. Is that how it works on Blogger? If you turn that on you get them e-mailed and can directly respond? Yes? No? I donno.

Anyway, sorry to have lost one. Looking forward to -- and can't believe that I am possibly this close -- hitting 100. I think I will keel over if I see that number hit three digits. And I am thankful to those of you who come by daily, say hi, and shoot the sh!t a little bit. I hope I am repaying you in kind. And if not, kick my butt some before you leave me. Tell me to get my a$$ on over to your neck of the woods. I promise I will. I've just been slack on catching up on my google reader/following list. But I'll make it over eventually. I'll even bring you whatever you'd like to drink, and maybe, just maybe, bake some cookies or somethin'.

Happy Sunday, everyone!

  1. I totally obsess and know how many I have. You don't have to turn on moderation, but you can choose to have the comments sent to your email- I think it's "notification" or something like that. I really like that because then I can talk back to my commenters- as long as they have their email enabled.

  3. I don't know that I obsess over my followers, but I do enjoy seeing them there. I guess knowing that the more followers I have the more comments I'm gonna get. I think it's the comments I love the most. I do have my comments e-mailed to me. I make sure that those that comment are the ones I visit and try to comment for sure.

I've heard of different ways that people keep up with the blogs that they follow and their followers. This is how I do mine. I make sure to become a follower of all my followers. Then I have the last 10 blog posts of the blogs that I follow show up in my sidebar. I check it a couple times a day (sometimes more)and pop over to those blogs and read and comment. Then when I have extra time I go to my blogroll and catch up on those that I have missed.

Not sure if this helps you. But you are right, the way the blogging world works is definitely interesting.

  4. You can set up your comments to come right to your email without comment mod (just as Shell said). That's what I do. I love it!

Under comments, scroll to the bottom where it says comments notification email and put your email in there!

  5. I have my comments come right to my inbox as well. I love it. That way, I can send a personal comment back!! All is good.

I'm with you on feeling a connection to my followers as well. I have un-followed/de-followed many people that have never responded to my comments, or even acknowledged that I follow them.

I lost a follower last week. What a weird feeling! I never obsess over them, but wow, it bothered me ALL day and night who it could be, and WHY they decided to leave me. Ahhh, strage thing the bloggy world ;)
If I could, I would follow you twice, just to make up for your loss... LOL

  7. I dont obsess over followers, but it does make me happy when I see someone new has joined up. It makes me feel as though what I am writing others enjoy and "get it".

  8. sometimes it's just a blogger thing. I've had blogs I follow 'fall off' my blogroll -seriously...sometimes people delete their blogs...lots of things happen - don't sweat it!

  9. I try to follow everyone who follows me, but sometimes there is no link to their blog so it makes it harder. I try to visit my followers blogs a few times a week and comment. I read them all every day (I really do..sometimes I am up until after midnight checking them all out!). Just try not to obsess too much and have fun with your blog!!

  10. I obsess over followers too. I have 11. Yes, 11. LOL - someday I hope to have more. I liked reading this tips on having comments sent to my inbox and then responding directly. what a great idea. I'd been wondering about the same thing.

  11. I try not to obsess over followers and I promise you will hit 100 soon! I love seeing new faces following me, but try to remind myself that numbers aren't everything. There are plenty of people I follow who follow me back but rarely/never comment. I don't ever delete a follower, though....unless they are mean/nasty to me, which hasn't happened (yet).

  15. See & you came & visited me & I haven't had the chance until now to visit you back! (Thanks btw! I love comments too)

I don't have a followers thingy on my wordpress blog. I get caught up in other things & forget to blog. How scandilous, right? Never fear. You'll have 100 sooner than you think. You've got a great blog!
