Big Girl Panties, Stephanie Evanovich ~ book review

As soon as I opened this book I knew I would love it.

I'm serious. I just knew.

I mean, look at the title.

books, reviews, fiction, chick-lit

Big Girl Panties.

How many times have you, a. heard that phrase? b. USED that phrase? or c. WANTED to use that phrase? Yeah. I thought so. Me, too.

Now Stephanie Evanovich makes us use it. We have to. It's the title of her book. The title! Crazy, right? And yet, it drew me in straight away. It made me laugh. I had no idea how it would tie into the story, but it had to be light enough and an easy summer read with a title like that, right?

I'm right. I read it in 24 hours or so. Easily. And I liked it. Because Evanovich brought me Holly.

Holly is the woman that so many of us can relate to.

We meet her as she walks towards her seat on an airplane, finding herself next to THE hottest guy (score!) and holding her breath with a fear that she will not be able to fit into the seat. At all. Or at least without a seatbelt extension.

I held my breath FOR her as she walked down that aisle.

I know that feeling. Although, honestly, I've never thought about what was going on in the other person's mind, the one sitting next to me. The one we meet as we meet Logan.

Logan.

Adonis. Hotness. The most beautiful man she'd ever laid eyes on.

Holly and Logan strike up a conversation. A conversation that somehow turns into a novel filled with unexpected connections, chemistry, heat, friendships, emotion and more.

Logan is a personal trainer. Holly has nothing to lose.

One exchange of information later and she's on the road to a healthier way of life.

One that's filled with emotional upheaval, finding herself *thisclose* to binge eating, and finding all of her being completely fascinated with Logan Montgomery. Ehem.

Let's just say we get treated to some steamy scenes. This is definitely your beach read for the summer. If you can make it last longer than I could it could spend a beach trip or entire weekend with you. I read  pretty fast. You can slow down ... enjoy it, don't devour it. There's no rush.

Anyway, I think you'll enjoy it. I'm not one to give much away when I do book reviews, and I don't often give you quotes or full paragraphs, but I'll make note for you of the first stretching scene and promise when you get to it you'll say to yourself, ahhhhh ... THAT's what she was talking about!

And so, I leave you with two things. This first one? I have no idea where I found it. It is on my computer so maybe I saved it on Pinterest forever ago and there was no source (highly likely). But it's so what I think of almost every day. So here you go.

humor, women's chatter, laughter

And then there's this one. Which is often how I'm feeling. Especially in the mornings. And when I want to stay home, hide behind the curtains and read great books like these. Quietly. With no distractions. For sure.

pajamas, mamas, cozy, stay-at-home

  5. Sounds like a great book! I will be reading this one next.

Currently I'm involved in the 50 Shades of Grey trilogy. Probably the last person to read those books.

I'm just glad to be reading again...I've missed it so much!
