The Goddaughter, Melodie Campbell ~ Book review

Melodie Campbell's Rapid Read was indeed that.

The Goddaughter was an easy read and I made it through the story in about an hour, maybe two if I stopped to put the book down once or twice.

At 134 pages this is the kind of book you'd carry with you if you had a quick flight and didn't want something heavy in your bag. Then you could leave it with a friend or family member when you returned home so they could enjoy it, too!

Gina's character is *connected* in ways that not many people would understand. Did you even know that the word connected can have another meaning? I'm sure many of you did. If not ... well ... stay with me here ...

We're talking mafia here, big family, she's got big goofy men chasing her, murders to cover up and bodies to dispose of. And this is her life when she's OUT of the business!

She connects with Pete early on and their chemistry is cute, fun and fast.

As I mentioned, this book is such a short read. Because of that we don't really have the time to dig deeply into their characters, backgrounds or connections. As in family and loved ones - not the business kind. Instead we get a light, mobster-filled read that is fun and enjoyable.

I will add that sometimes the mafia-related stereotypes seemed a bit much, but even with that I enjoyed the read and would pick up something by Ms. Campbell again. So if you're looking for an entertaining and easy read, check out The Goddaughter and let me know what you think.

  2. Whether we're talking books or movies, Hubs and I call those light, fun, enjoyable, but not earth shattering, "cheeseburgers". Tasty, but not nutritious. :> Glad you enjoyed it.

MamaKat has 'what you are reading' as one of her prompts today, you might want to link this up. :>
